FAQ

Where is you studio? There's no address specified.
My studio is located at the North end of Capitol Hill just a few blocks down from Broadway. I prefer to share my address only in private messages with prospective clients as my studio and home are in the same building.
Can I mail you materials? Can you mail me a product?
Absolutely. Although a big commissioned design would be hard to manage completely through the mail, materials such as fabric, notions, or a garment to be altered can easily be mailed to me and then shipped back to you upon completion. Already built garments and accessories for sale are very easily shipped. I do not cover shipping costs as a complimentary service, but I charge no extra fees. My mailing address is the same as my studio address and is available through private message.
Can you work with a budget and do you offer discounts?
My design services are completely personalized to what suits you artistically and financially. If price is a concern, notify me right away with an estimate of your budget, and we will design accordingly from the start. A budget can easily be accommodated by simplifying designs, using parts of patterns that I have already made, designing with cheaper materials, and thrifting parts of garments for alterations. I also often offer student and artist discounts.
Do you do repairs?
Yes. From simple fixes like holes, busted seams, and hems to complicated re-furbishing of vintage gowns.
How much do your prices vary? Are your rates subject to change?
My regular rate for work is $25 an hour depending on complexity. I charge  $25-27 per hour spent on strenuous work such as hand beading or embroidery. Simple repair work is more in the $10-25 range total, will be estimated individually, and is often a flat rate. If I have a very heavy work load or a rush order is requested, prices will increase, but that will be noted by our first meeting if not before. If finances are a concern, I am willing to tailor a budget individually.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I prefer cash and checks for in-person work. Several payment options are provided through Etsy if going through my shop. I can also take Venmo or PayPal.
What other sewing experience do you have?
I have done costume work for theatre and film. I have done seaming and assistant costume work with the Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society and with Cornish College of the Arts. I also was costume designer and wardrobe mistress for the short film "71ft"and am standing costumer for the Dickens Carolers since 2018.
