Denim jacket embellished with scrap fabric. The design is based off of Egyptian art depicting the goddess Isis with a boho flare.

Custom altered piece. Designer's dream- "do whatever you want". I knew what the client liked in general aesthetically, asked a few questions, and created this fabulous altered vest

Decorated denim vest. Tassel trim and floral appliques make this a unique wedding cover-up or fun party and festival wear.

I re-furbished and re-fit this vintage madrigal choir costume by replacing all the pink satin and the bodice embellishments

Re-fitting the bodice required a slight re-design of the bodice panel. The lace and cord are shiny and new, but I was lucky to be able to tweak and re-use the hook and eye strip closure hidden at the panel's side.

Faux Pas Fashion SHow 2015

faux pas fashion show

Every year, the Ruby Room hosts a fashion show and auction to support their non-profit mission of supplying low-income girls with prom dresses. In 2015, I was one of five local designers selected for the challenge. Each designer created five originally designed and constructed dresses from a group of dresses considered to be fashion faux pas due to various damages and/or outdated styles. It was my pleasure to work for a good cause and with such

delightful young women who volunteered as my models.

This is my vintage-inspired party dress. I used fabric from 3 gowns and lace buttons from a wedding dress. All the lace (including buttons) was tea-dyed, and the beaded chain that closes the back and decorates the front was re-linked from a thrifted necklace

This gorgeous suit is may favorite piece as an idea. The challenge of the show was to make gowns, but I stronly believe in bending traditionally gendered clothing. The crystal beaded corset laced bodice that I re-used and the cut of the vest add a fierce feminine touch

The main appeal of this long sleek gown is the mercurial silver fabric and the hand-beaded embellishments to the front and back.

The tassel is part of a concelaed closure for the scarf neckline

This was my most complicated piece and my favorite design. The silver belt and neckline were taken from the shoulder and hem embellishments on fully-beaded Indian dress. The white beaded bottom was as well. For the body of the gown, I made pieces by layering velvet decorated mesh from one gown onto the white satin of another

What would a prom dress fashion show be without the classic Cinderella ball gown? The pre-constructed bodice was the perfect starting point. I embellished it with buttons, sliver brouched chiffon, a matching belt, and flowers. Other skirts of sliver and irridescent blue layered conveniently and were aesthetically unified by the adition of a silver hem ruffle
